There is absolutely nothing this woman can't sing. Even when it comes to The Alphabet, Labelle can't hep but allow the music to fill her soul. Her entire Shape changes. She falls through some kind of magic looking glass when she's singing. It's not that she's alone in her music, she's anything but a selfish performer, but it's as if she simply has no choice. No matter what the circumstances, she has to move. She can't sit there calmly and open her mouth and hope something interesting happens. She's surprising us, and more importantly, she's surprising herself.
Patti could sing the obituaries and they'd be brilliant. |
my mom raised me on Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin.
but i once asked my mom, "who would you rather see in concert, Patti LaBelle or Aretha Franklin?"
her answer: "Tina Turner."
lol.
