Don Lafontaine passed on Sept 1 due to a collapsed lung. You might not recognize the face, but the voice in unmistakable. In fact….every voice in thei video is unmistakable.

Make no mistake. Voice over work is indeed Work. It’s a skill and it’s not nearly as easy as it looks. LaFonataine worked for years starting at a small radio station and eventually ending up becoming the highest paid and most sought after voice over artist in the word. The Oscars, The Grammys, The Emmys, and pretty much every movie trailer on the planet.

He was also famous for his work ethic. He took so many jobs, he eventually hired a driver to get him from studio to studio in one day. Finally, after the advent of the digital recording, he was able to do his work from his Hollywood home in his own self built downstairs studio. His talent goes without hoopla, without fanfare, and without any kind of accolade. But we’ll miss his voice. Just listen closely the next time you hear a movie trailer, and no one says:

“….in a world where….”

You’ll notice a difference. Trust me.
