Freaky Friday (Yatta)

  • Sep. 16th, 2005 at 2:49 AM
Okay. Okay. All right.....

It's a Japaneese video of a pop song that's a disco rip off of The Villiage People with 6 guys in tighty-whiteys with fig leafs, doing hand signals and making the "Boop-Boop" sound with a million Asians in the audience.

And there's a disco ball.

One of my favorites! I couldn't get that link to work, though. Try this one:

WOWWW!
Okay, I just clicked on the link for the lyrics. YEAH!

My favorite line:

"We're doin great, cuz we're in College!"

Um. Genius.

At least now I completely understand the fig leaves.

Re: WOWWW!
You know, I kind of hate to reveal this, but this is actually a Japanese sketch comedy team's parody of the boy band phenomenon in Japan. They did a sketch on their show, and it was so popular they did a video and then released the song, which did very well. So it's really sort of fake, kind of like Spinal Tap is a parody heavy metal band, the Blues Brothers are parody blues artists, and John Mayer is a parody pop star.

(I'm just guessing about John Mayer, but come on...)

Re: WOWWW!
ANY kind of history for this song is relief. I mean, when I first saw it, I had to watch it about 900 times. It's kind of like a car wreck. But I have to say, it's genius whether it's real or not.

LOVE it!!
